NEW: Sullivan Joins Rhode Island-Based Checkmate Consulting Group

Political consultant Ray Sullivan has joined Checkmate Consulting Group, a Rhode Island-based media and strategic communications company. Sullivan, who joins the firm as a partner, will focus on message development, grassroots and digital organizing and advocacy, as well as general campaign consulting.
Sullivan was recently recognized in Campaigns and Elections magazine as one of Rhode Island’s top political consultants, most recently served as the campaign director of Rhode Islanders United, the lead organization behind winning marriage equality in Rhode Island.

Sullivan Brings Extensive Experience to Firm
Before leading Rhode Islanders United for Marriage, Ray served as a aide to several statewide and federal candidates and elected leaders including Congressman Jim Langevin, Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty, and former senator and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Myrth York. In 2008, he was the state director for President Obama’s campaign in Rhode Island. Prior to that, Ray spent six years in the General Assembly, representing the people of Coventry and West Greenwich in the 29th House District.
