NEW: Sen. Pichardo Endorses Rochelle Lee for Ward 9 City Council

State Senator Juan M. Pichardo today endorsed Rochelle Lee for City Councilwoman in Ward 9 (Part of Elmwood and part of Washington Park), and urges ward voters to consider, support and vote for her.

" I support Rochelle because I know that she is compassionate and experienced to lead and build stronger relationships to help our neighborhoods, libraries and schools," said Pichardo.

"Rochelle's commitment and warm manner is a formula that is persuasive and strong minded to get the job done," he continued.

Senator Pichardo has represented and lead the people of Elmwood, South Elmwood, West End and Reservoir triangle since 2004. He also served as Senator for Washington Park from 2002-2004. Pichardo was first elected in 2002 as the first Latino Senator in the Rhode Island, and the first Dominican-American elected to a state Senate office in the history of the United States. currently, he serves as President Pro Tempore, 2nd Vice Chairman of Senate Committee Finance among others.

"I look forward forward to working closely with her to beautify and green our neighborhoods with increasingly clean streets and investments in community projects, said Pichardo.

" I have known Rochelle for over a decade and most importantly is that she has gained my trust to advocate for our families, children, and the institutions that matter most in our neighborhoods such as the Knight Memorial Library, the development of Broad Street and Elmwood Avenue. Thus, enhancing the quality of our local parks so that our young and older people can enjoy them."

As a resident of ward 9, Senator Pichardo served on numerous boards and committees that included, President of the board of Elmwood Foundation (Now, Community Works RI), Co-Founder and former President of Quisqueya en Action, and retired Rhode Island National Guardsmen of 22 years of honorable serve.
