NEW: Paul Krugman, Elizabeth Warren to Appear at Netroots Nation

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Nobel-Prize-winner Paul Krugman will appear in Providence on June 9 as the economic keynote speaker at Netroots Nation 2012 (NN12).

The seventh annual gathering will be held June 7–10 in Providence. Netroots Nation 2012 will include 70 panels, 30 training sessions, inspiring keynotes, film screenings and other engaging sessions designed to educate, stimulate and inspire the nation’s next generation of progressive leaders.

Netroots Nation

Each year, thousands of bloggers, newsmakers, social justice advocates, labor and organizational leaders, grassroots organizers and online activists come together to make new connections, hone their organizing skills, share best practices and build stronger relationships with others working on the issues they care most about. And each year, some of the brightest minds in progressive politics come to Netroots Nation to speak with—and hear from—that community.

More featured guests

Joining Krugman at NN12 will be AFL-CIO’s Rich Trumka; the Agenda Project’s Erica Payne; and Ai-jen Poo, National Domestic Workers Alliance director and one of Time’s 2012 100 Most Influential People in the World. The session will be moderated by Demos' Heather McGhee.

In addition to these speakers, NRN12 will feature progressive champions like Elizabeth Warren, Van Jones and Bill McKibben as well as candidates including Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Eric Greigo and Lori Saldana; and elected leaders including NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Sen. Jack Reed, Sen. Sherrod Brown, Sen. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Ben Cardin, Rep. Mazie Hirono, Rep. Keith Ellison, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, Rep. David Cicilline and more.

On June 7, Paul Krugman will also be signing his new book, End This Depression Now, immediately following the keynote in the exhibit hall author signing area.
