‘New Ideas’ on Job Creation from Gubernatorial Candidates

The six candidates for governor met for their second forum in less than 24 hours at Business Expo 2010 this morning. The six candidates were asked a number of questions—including what “new and specific” ideas they had for spurring job creation in Rhode Island. Their answers are featured in this video.

I thought Chafee's idea (middle college) was very interesting, but I wonder though that if you are preparing students exclusively for a certain need in the workforce, you aren't really encouraging them to develop new ways and innovate in the field they enter. Wouldn't it be analogous to high schools preparing students for a standardized test instead of teaching the material?
