NEW: Claudine Schneider Returns to RI for YWCA Honor

Former US Representative Claudine Schneider will return to Rhode Island today to accept the Isabelle Ahearn O'Neill Award as a part of YWCA Northern Rhode Island 4th Annual Women Holding Office Celebration at Bryant University from 6pm to 8pm. A number of prominent female elected officials from the past and present will also be in attendance.
As a part of her visit to Rhode Island (she now lives in Boulder, CO), Representative Schneider will pre-release her book which will be available later this year. Schneider was elected as a Republican to the 97th Congress and was re-elected to the four succeeding Congresses, serving from January 3, 1981 to January 3, 1991 for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district.
“YWCA is pleased to host this celebration for the fourth year in a row to acknowledge all women who have held or hold public office,” says Deborah L. Perry, President/Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Northern Rhode Island. “We are especially thrilled that Representative Claudine Schneider, Rhode Island’s highest ranking female elected official ever, will be joining us at the event.”
