Melissa Withers was one of Angel Taveras's earliest appointments. But just nine months into her position as the city's Communications Director, she has resigned.
"I thank Melissa for her service, commitment and leadership during these first eight, critical, months of my administration. Melissa is passionate about our city and will no doubt be a part of Providence's future success and growth. I wish her all the best," said Mayor Angel Taveras.
The Mayor's Press Secretary, David Ortiz, will be the main point of contact for all communications and public information inquiries going forward. She intends to pursue other employment opportunities.
