A recently released Brown University Poll finds that Congressman David Cicilline (D-1) and Brendan Doherty (R) are in a functional dead heat when considering the 6% +/- margin of error.

The poll finds that Cicilline has a 45% to 40% lead.  This is a one point narrowing from WPRI's recent poll.  WPRI's poll sample size was 250 likely voters and the Brown polling sample for the 1st Congressional District was only 234 likely voters.

Cicilline's job approval ratings are relatively poor - a combined 30% think he is doing an "excellent" or "good" job. More than 60% rate him as "fair" or "poor."
