NEW: Block Blasts Fung on Cranston Share of State Aid
Tuesday, July 08, 2014
GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Block has blasted opponent Cranston Mayor Allan Fung for calling the city a "success story," in light of getting $9.4 million in state aid compared to $3.4 million to Warwick.
In a release sent out as a follow-up to the debate between Fung and Block on the John Loughlin Show on Saturday, Block said that Cranston is "grabbing a greater share of state taxpayer dollars" as the second biggest recipient of distressed community funding from the state.

“Cranston is the second largest recipient of state aid for distressed communities,” said Block. “Mayor Fung raised taxes every year for the first three years of his time in office. This is not a success story.”

“If there is a Cranston success story, the taxpayers of Rhode Island deserve the credit for it because they have been propping up Mayor Fung for the last three years,” said Block. “The mismanagement we’ve seen in Cranston, whether its tax increases, police scandals, or giveaway union contracts, is not the way to fix Rhode Island.”
