NEW: Almonte to Run for Governor in 2014

Former auditor general Ernie Almonte will be a Democratic candidate for Governor in 2014.
Almonte made it official today by filing a notice of organization with the board of elections.
Almonte, who has been plotting a run for the state’s top job for months, is the first candidate to throw his hat into the ring a Democratic primary that many believe could feature General Treasurer and fundraising powerhouse Gina Raimondo.
