Democrat Gina Raimondo has handily won the race for General Treasurer against Republican Kerry King. Raimondo took 62.1 percent of the vote leaving Kerry King with 37.9 percent of the vote.
“I’m extremely proud of (our) candidate,” said Raimondo Campaign Manager Joe Shekarchi, who noted that it was her first run for office. “She was incredibly well-disciplined.” He said the campaign was also proud of the fact that she was the number one vote-getter among the statewide Democratic candidates.
