NEW: Igliozzi Out as Finance Chairman of City Council
Friday, June 15, 2012
The chairman on the City Council finance committee will step away from his post, effective July 1.
John Igliozzi, who clashed with Council leadership last month after he and Council President Pro Tempore Terry Hassett wanted to amend the city’s pension reform ordinance, announced his resignation during a meeting Thursday. He will remain on the finance committee.
While the announcement came as a surprise to several Council members, the arrangement is believed to have been orchestrated in May after Igliozzi and a group of dissident Council members unsuccessfully attempted to remove Council Majority Leader Seth Yurdin from his post.

Councilman David Salvatore is widely expected to become the new finance chairman, but several Council members said there is some question as to whether vice chairman Sam Zurier should be given the position.
