Gemma Launches Special iPhone App for His Campaign
Tuesday, July 20, 2010
In keeping with his promise to reinvent and reinvigorate public service for the 21st century, Congressional candidate Anthony Gemma yesterday launched an iPhone app that allows voters to follow his campaign’s every move.
“We’re always trying to come up with ways to talk to all constituents who are willing to get involved in government,” Gemma told GoLocalProv.
The app, which can be downloaded here, gives voters a real-time look at Gemma’s campaign schedule, photos, videos, Facebook and Twitter feeds, links, and other features. In addition to the traditional meat-and-potatoes of campaigning, such as campaign speeches, Gemma said he was trying to appeal to those Rhode Islanders who are among an estimated 15 million Americans who use iPhones.

The iPhone app is only the latest development in a campaign that has made a point of utilizing 21st century information technology to engage voters. Gemma has also pledged to create a Web site with a homepage made to look like the dashboard of a car. Each of the gauges would measure how local, state, and federal government are improving education or unemployment—hence his motto of creating “citizen-driven government.”
“In tandem with more traditional forms of communication, the iPhone app helps us to realize our goal of restoring citizen-driven government to Rhode Island and America,” Gemma said.
If elected, Gemma said he would continue to use the iPhone app, so constituents could keep tabs on policy reviews, Congressional votes, hearings, and other events.
The app was developed by a national company outside of Rhode Island known as Mii App, according to Gemma.
