Dates Set for Providence Ward 3 Special Election
Thursday, May 25, 2017
Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea announced the dates for the special election in Providence Ward 3 to fill the seat of former City Councilperson Kevin Jackson.
Jackson was recalled by voters after he was arrested in May of 2016 on charges of improper use of campaign funds, and embezzlement totaling nearly $140,000.
Jackson pled not guilty in Providence County Superior court in August, but soon faced a recall effort that GoLocal called "the biggest political brawl of 2016."
