Cicilline Announces Transition Team

David Cicilline yesterday announced his Congressional Transition Team.

“I am so proud to have the assistance and advice of this outstanding team as I prepare to make the transition to Congress,” said Cicilline. “Bringing a wealth of experience and on-the-ground knowledge, these community leaders will help ensure that the transition is seamless and responsive to the needs of the residents of the First District. I am grateful for their time and talents and I know they will help make sure that we have a top-notch operation in place come January.”

According a news release, team members include:

Nancy Benoit: A former State Representative and currently the chairperson of Family Resources Community Action; active in the Rhode Island State Democratic Party.

J. Clement Cicilline: Former State Senator Cicilline is President and CEO of the Newport County Community Mental Health Center.

Octavio Cunha: An active member of Rhode Island's Portuguese community and a member of the East Providence Planning Board.

James Diossa: Currently a councilman in Central Falls. Diossa works for the College Crusade of Rhode Island, a group whose mission is to increase educational and career success for youth in Rhode Island's low-income communities.

Madeline Ernest: The President of the Rhode Island Forum on Aging, a founding member of the Long-Term Care Coordinating Council, and the first woman to serve as a Nursing Home Administrator, doing so for over 40 years. She has also served on the Rhode Island Governor's Advisory Commission on Aging for the previous four governors.

Onna Moniz-John: A community activist for decades, Onna serves as a member of the Martin Luther King State Commission, the Governor's Commission on Prejudice and Bias, and the Rhode Island Affirmative Action Professionals. She is also an original member of the Governor's Commission on Racial Profiling.

Tony Nobrega: The President of the Benefit Development Group in Cumberland and a former 10-year member of Cumberland's Town Council as the Chair of the Finance Committee.

R. Kelly Sheridan: The Past President of the Rhode Island Bar Association. He has also represented the City of Providence and the Mayor for numerous projects and engagements over the past two decades.

June Speakman: Currently a professor of political science at Roger Williams University and the President of the Barrington Town Council.

Chris Vitale: An attorney who practices in Providence. He worked for six years for Congressman Kennedy, managing one of his re-election campaigns, and brings a vast array of knowledge and experience in Rhode Island's First District.
