Chafee Criticizes Caprio’s Voting Record
Friday, October 22, 2010
Independent Lincoln Chafee scolded Democrat Frank Caprio yesterday for missing nearly one fifth of the votes in his 16 years as a member of the General Assembly. He also accused Caprio of voting 96 percent of the time with the Democratic leadership, according to 630 WPRO, a GoLocalProv media partner.
WPRO reports that spokesman Nick Hemond denied that Caprio was a rubber stamp for the Democrat leadership and even lost his chairmanship on the Senate Committee on Finance because he crossed the party leadership on budgets. Hemond also said that Chafee voted with President Bush 75 percent of the time.
