Caprio Criticizes Carcieri on School Funds

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Frank Caprio is calling on Gov. Don Carcieri to reconsider his proposal to use $32.9 million in federal education funds to close the state budget deficit.

“We need innovative solutions to fix our public education system and structural reforms to balance the state’s budget,” Caprio said. “The decision to bailout a broken budget by using federal funds awarded to help our struggling schools could not be more irresponsible.”

The money was originally intended for teaching jobs.
