Ummm..... no.
The biggest loser in Congressman Kennedy's announcement to not seek re-election was Republican State Representative John Loughlin.
Loughlin was lined up to raise national "anti-Kennedy" campaign cash and he even signed on many of Sen. Scott Brown's campaign staff to run the anti-establishment, populist campaign.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTHowever, now with Kennedy out of the race, the wind has been knocked out of Loughlin's sail and he is hard-pressed to be a blip on the national Republican Party's radar. Indeed, he only raised $98,000 in the first quarter.
Loughlin's only hope is that the Democrats bruise and bloody each other so badly that the Democratic primary winner on September 14 can't recover in time for the November 2 general election.
And, well, considering the history of the Rhode Island Democratic Party, that's not entirely out of the question.
