Taveras wins another endorsement. Block and Caprio team up against Chafee. Fernandez releases new ad… and more from the campaign trail.

Block and Caprio Team Up Against Chafee

Ken Block and Frank Caprio issued a joint press release at the end of the week claiming that Chafee was taking their ideas for economic development.

Caprio said Chafee “borrowed” his idea for securing an equity share for the state in the deal with Curt Schilling’s video game company and state representation on the boards of companies that receive loan guarantees.

The Chafee campaign did not respond.

City Councilman Endorses Taveras

Providence City Councilman Seth Yurdin has endorsed Angel Taveras for mayor.

“I support Angel because I know he can lead Providence to build stronger schools, protect our environment, create jobs and be a strong voice for the taxpayer,” said Yurdin said. “Angel's five-point environmental plan is just what our City needs to be an environmental leader. I look forward to working closely with him to green our city and school buildings, increase city composting and investing in new community gardens.  Most important, I trust Angel to advocate for the institutions that are the life-blood of our neighborhood - the Fox Point Library, our Senior Center, the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School, and the Boys & Girls Club.”

Fernandez Releases New TV Ad

Democratic Attorney General candidate Joe Fernandez released his new campaign commercial yesterday. The ad defends his records as city solicitor for Providence. “When the status quo politicians go on the attack, it’s because they know that change is coming,” Fernandez says in the ad. “As Attorney General, I’ll change the way this state does business.” Click here to view the ad.
