poll: BREAKING: Ryan is Romney’s VP Choice: Are You More Likely to Vote for Romney?
Saturday, August 11, 2012
Are you more likely to vote for Romney
- 1257 vote - Yes, Paul Ryan is a great choice
- 611 vote - No, Ryan weakens Romney's chances

Ryan is expected to energize the Conservative base of the Republican Party. Ryan is young, 42, and has worked almost exclusively in politics - he did work for a short period for a family business. Ryan was selected over U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), former Minn Governor Tim Pawlenty, and Brown University grad and Governor of Bobby Jindal (R-LA).

This choice should please the Teaparty folks! I still have questions about his plan to reform social security through privatization? Can someone clarify? Thanks.

Good choice and should help secure Wisconsin. Won't do much to help with the hispanic or black vote though.

I don't know how even Mitt Scissorhands Romney, the CEO-in-chief, can stomach Paul Ryan, who's never held a real job, to be his Vice President . More pandering to the Downs Syndrome wing of the party... er, Tea Party? look at this guy's "resume". - he has sucked the government teat his whole life. He's more hooked on government cheese than a section 8 crack mamma with a dozen kids.
Ryan has been in Congress since 1999. and voted for the things that erased the Clinton surplus and created massive deficits. Ryan voted for the Bush tax cuts and the foolish and totally unnecessary trillion dollar wars in Afghanistan and Iraq . Ryan also voted for the Wall Street bailout and the bailout of GM and Chrysler.

The Progressive movement in the US and Rhode Island is a failure. Most of us are conservative democrats, republicans or independents. The outrage on the streets against the anti-business attitude and nanny state Orwellian elites controlling our lives is palpable. I want to fix this progressive mess that has invaded Washington and that has already hurt Rhode Island.
We should take progressives head-on and invite fiscal conservatives of all stripes Dems , Republicans and independents to stop the insanity and work to better the economic future for all of us . Rhode Island has been the testing ground for progressive thought for years and as a result we are ranked last in virtually every category.

Does this that most of the registered Republicans in the state voted in this poll? We're up to almost 1000 when I voted.

Mr. Paycheck- how clever- "Barry" didn't have control of Congress ever. With a threatened block on every issue even when there supposedly 60 Democrats in the Senate caucus, he had to deal with Senate Dems too timid to do the right thing because they were facing reelection.

Jonathan, I don't know what it means beyond the fact that people know we can't spend a trillion dollars more every year. It just has to stop. We can't continue to be a "Free beer" kind of society. RI has done it and we are on the brink of disaster. I am an Independent and don't like either party; but Ryan is a different breed of Republican... he is actually capable of telling the truth and finding a solution. I say, it's the one stroke of brilliance on Romney's part... I mean Wisconsin was as left and liberal as RI and they are turning the corner due to Walker...

P.S. My dad was a firefighter... rest in peace... but he was a good American and could never vote for a guy whose parents were marxists.
Just how it is ... in our family, our country trumps everything else.

Ryan was on welfare growing up. Hippocrite.
Women of the US will mot allow this dumb anti-woman, incompetent duo to be elected. Keep dreamin' , teatards.

Nice language above Carol. Indicative of your intellectual heft and brain power. Very impressive.
Ryan is a generational pick... he is serious, smart, and understands that this country is not just a place ... it's an idea based on the principles of liberty, economic freedom and individual responsibility. Great, great pick... can't wait to vote for him... to honor my deceased union firefighter Dad with that vote... for this is about preserving the America that my dad and others fought for.

And Carol, please post the data to support your assertion that Cong. Ryan's family was on welfare. I have seen NO evidence to support this... then again, I've seen no evidence to support most of OBama's claims. When your record on jobs is as dismal as Obama's, all you have left is lies and smearing people. Kinda like Ciccilline's campaign.

I think Rubio would have helped him more overall, but Ryan is going to rip the dem's VP nominee to shreds in the TV debates. Looking forward to it. The guy knows how to argue based on hard facts not class warfare hype. The difference will shine through.

Wow, I thought I lived in a deep, deep blue state... What's up with Ryan pulling so far ahead? There must be trouble brewing... perhaps there is a little hope for Rhody
