Should EDC Give Curt Schilling a New Deal?
- 466 vote - No, we have already lost tens of millions - no more
- 25 vote - Yes, we have made a big investment and we must protect the jobs

Do you support the effort by RI EDC to expand the agrement to protect approximately 200 jobs in Providence? Or, should RI let the company live or die with the millions already invested?

First, EDC and 38 Studios should disclose how many dollars went to out of state jobs to the firm "Big Huge Games" in Maryland. If the firm was acquired in whole or in part with the EDC loan proceeds, why did those jobs remain in Maryland?
On the 38 Studios website under employment is the following text: "38 Studios has two development studios – one in Providence, Rhode Island; one in Baltimore, Maryland. Both locations offer a plethora of fun things to do… "
On the Big Huge Games site, there is no mention of RI as a location for employment opportunities. In fact their website promotes Maryland: "Big Huge Games is located in Timonium, Maryland. What's so special about Maryland?" Click here to find out! (http://bighugegames.com/jobs/life-in-md )

Providing these guys with any additional capital would be the Webster definition of "throwing good money after bad." The company has no collateral, no product, no material goods to attach and its intellectual property is absolutely valueless.
I strongly urge that the company be forced to open up its books and records and a forensic audit be conducted to determine how the money was spent and what value was derived from the expenditures. I would wager that there is criminal activity to be found in the form of self-dealing/embezzlement. Look for checks to cash, round numbered checks in periodic increments to unexplainable vendors, run checks on the vendors to see who owns them (Schilling's mother-in-law, as an example of potential self dealing) and more... There is plenty to find in books that are missing $50 to $75 million.
