Cozy Caterers, which is owned by Council President Michael Solomon and his wife Denise, has had a history of health code violations dating back to 2008.

GoLocal first reported today that Providence City Council President Michael Solomon’s catering business, Cozy Caterers, has had a history of health code violations over the past five years.

Michael Solomon who is planning to run for Mayor of Providence in 2014, refused requests for comment, but GoLocalProv received the following statement from Mark Brown, General Manager of Cozy Caterers.

"In January of 2013 we corrected several violations following an inspection by the Department of Health. We are pleased to be in full compliance, and, of course, will continue to comply with health and safety standards," Brown told GoLocal.

According to Rhode Island Health Department Records, Cozy Caterers had dozens of health code violations between May 2008 and January 2013. The catering company's most recent health inspection proved to be the most damning. In fact, health inspectors cited Cozy Caterers for 16 health code violations on January 31, 2013.
