In the early 1960s, there was a cat-and-mouse game between the FBI and the Patriarca Crime Family. And, 50 years ago, there was a running battle between Patriarca and the Providence Journal.
Patriarca thought the Providence-Journal's coverage was unfair and, at one point, took out an ad in the newspaper criticizing the coverage.

“For many years past your newspapers have intermittently insinuated that I am the head of some vague underworld of crime. In your colored and slanted news columns, I have been gratuitously characterized by the most unsavory names.”
Patriarca announces he is suing the Providence Journal in the ad.
