What’s The Best Thing About West Warwick?

The most recent community in Rhode Island, West Warwick established itself as a separate entity from Warwick in 1913. The community has a proud heritage and a noble tradition based on immigrant influx and milling. Its continuous educational growth, rapid industrial expansion, and boost from immigrant influxes since the 19th century all contribute to its pride.

Senator Hebert and Father Matthias Hebert, brothers from Arctic, were very powerful figures in state and church in the first half of the last century. They deserve a nod.

West Warwick was incorporated in 1913,"NOT 1648" making it the youngest town in the state. Prior to 1913, the town, situated on the western bank of the Pawtuxet River, was the population and industrial center of town of Warwick. The town split because local Democratic politicians wanted to consolidate their power and isolate their section of town from the Republican-dominated farmland in the east.

Cafe Jericho. 257 Washington St. in scenic and historic downtown West Warwick is a true diamond in the rough. Many celebrities have dined there including Donald Trump, Bill Cosby and the late great song and dance man Libarace who had most of his meals delivered to his hotel from the Jericho whenever he appeared at the "Tent" aka Warwick Musical Theater

I would highly recommend the infamous Jericho Burger
