VIDEO: Live Today—Gemma Press Conference

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Democratic Congressional candidate Anthony Gemma will hold a press conference Wednesday to finally release the findings of his private investigation.

Gemma announced last week he had hired a private investigation team that discovered "rampant voter fraud as well as other potential criminal actions" in their findings.

The Gemma campaign has not released any more information since the announcement except for a post on Gemma's Facebook page.

"Be prepared for breaking news that will have an immediate, stunning, game-changing impact on Rhode Island politics," Gemma wrote in a post on Facebook.

GoLocalTV will be be live-streaming the press conference from Gemma's Campaign Headquarters Wednesday, August 22 at noon.

Kennedy Son Ousts Incumbent to Win Seat in Rhode Island House
By The Associated Press
Published: September 15, 1988

Patrick Kennedy yesterday became the latest member of his family to win public office, soundly defeating a state representative in a Democratic primary in Rhode Island.
Mr. Kennedy, a 21-year-old junior at Providence College and son of Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy, beat Representative John Skeffington, a five-term incumbent, in a west Providence district.
With all polling places reporting, Mr. Kennedy had 1,324 votes, or 57 percent, while Mr. Skeffington had 1,009 votes, or 43 percent. Mr. Kennedy wins the office because there is no Republican opposition in November.
''You opened your hearts to me,'' Mr. Kennedy told a cheering neighborhood crowd. ''The people have spoken, and we won this primary.''
''We knew it was going to be a hard, uphill battle,'' Mr. Skeffington said, adding, ''Naturally, it was the Kennedy name. The Kennedy family came out in full force.''

Mr. Kennedy called his father in for a fund-raiser AND REPEATEDLY CHALLENGED THE VOTER REGISTRATION OF SKEFFINGTON SUPPORTERS.

______________________

In 1988 Patrick Kennedy found ONE person registered illegally. He hammered that everyday and made it look like Rep. Skeffington was personally involved.

Like Cicilline, every pol was all in for Skeffington.

It can be done. Let's hope Gemma can follow in Kennedy's steps.

Let's also hope that once elected, Gemma won't sell out like Kennedy did.

No comparison. To do so is idiotic. Please. Have perspective and a brain. Is that too much to ask of GoLoco "Readers?"

Joseph Davis

My point is not to compare Gemma to Kennedy, but to show that you don't need lots of voter fraud, just that Cicilline was involved.

I hope Gemma makes the case. Cicilline was so self righteous and in reality was 10x more corrupt than Cianci.

robert phellps

this is Gemma's waterloo..it better be a blockbuster or its his waterloon!!

Captain Blacksocks

The proof better be solid or it should not even be brought forward. Gemma will turn in Cicille into the underdog if the allegations are wishy washy.

ill be there to lol

And the US Attorney's Office and the AG haven't been involved in this "investigation?" Seems like a considerable amount of effort and expenditure for political, rather than genuine criminal investigative gain. Oh, wait, I'm stating the incredibly obvious when the merely obvious would suffice...
