Providence Mayor Angel Taveras yesterday said GoLocalProv’s rankings of the top high schools in the state shows that the capital city has its work cut out for it when it comes to improving its education system.
“We have a lot of ground to cover to make all of our schools as good as they need to be,” Taveras said.
He added: “When it comes to public education, we need to act as if every child is our own. Our students deserve nothing less and our future depends on it.”

Mount Pleasant High School took the bottom spot while Classical High School dropped from sixth to tenth place—due to the fact that other schools improved while its performance remained the same over the past year.
On the upside, the Met School jumped up from the no. 40 spot to no. 30.
