Find out where the 50 most dangerous intersections are in RI - from North Smithfield to South Kingstown - in GoLocalProv’s exclusive ranking. Did your community make the list?

How the ranking was calculated The ranking is based on both the number of crashes and the total cost. More than 11,500 intersections in Rhode Island had at least one crash over the course of the last three years. That list was culled down to 870 intersections based on locations where there had been 15 or more crashes during that period. The list was further reduced by taking those with the highest costs—yielding our list of the top 50 most dangerous intersections in Rhode Island.

Source of the information The data was provided to GoLocalProv by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation in response to an open records request. It is compiled annually as part of a report on the Rhode Island Highway Safety Improvement Program. The information contained in this story was collected for the 2010 report.
