Taveras Up All Night, Riding Along with Plows
Wednesday, January 12, 2011
Newly inaugurated Providence Mayor Angel Taveras is managing his first major snowstorm from the front lines.
Taveras was up all night long riding along with plows as they cleared the first snowfall from city streets last night, according to Communications Director Melissa Withers. “The team has been in action since yesterday morning,” Withers said. “The Mayor did not go home last night.”
Chief of Staff J.R. Pagliarini and Public Safety Commissioner have also been doing ride-alongs throughout the city. Between the three of them, they saw all city neighborhoods. “Over the next few days we will aggregate all of these new insights and carefully evaluate how we can continue to improve our storm response efforts,” Withers said.

This operation is up and running.”
So far, Withers says the storm response has been “well managed.”
