StrategicPoint Founder David Brochu Remains Behind Bars in NH

Monday, March 10, 2014

Founder and former CEO of the financial planning firm StrategicPoint Investment Advisors David Brochu remains in a cell at New Hampshire's Carroll County Jail, awaiting a probable cause hearing on Wednesday.

Brochu was arrested on February 22 at his home in Conway, NH. He was charged with one count of Second Degree Assault (B Felony), one count of Criminal Threatening with a deadly weapon (Special Class Felony, max. penalty of 20 years) and three Counts of Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault (Special Class Felony, max. penalty 20 years each count).

Bail set, not posted

Bail was set by Hon. Pamela Albee of the 3rd Circuit Court in Conway at $100,000--with several conditions applicable upon release--following Brochu's plea of not guilty. Bail, as of Sunday evening, had not yet been posted.

Brochu's attorney, Mark L. Sisti of Sisti Law Offices in Chichester, NH would not speak to the reason for his client's continued incarceration, but did advise that many details of the incident would be released in the days to come.

"This case is much more complicated than it appears at its face," Sisti told GoLocal on Sunday. "As we peel back the layers of the onion, the facts and truth of the case will come to light."

Conflict of interest

The probable cause hearing was originally scheduled for March 4, but Judge Albee recused herself from the case, citing a conflict of interest. The details of that conflict were not disclosed.

The case has been transferred to Hon. Robert C. Varney of the 3rd Circuit Court in Ossipee, NH. The probable cause hearing will take place on Wednesday, March 12 at 2:30 pm.
