State Budget Hinges on $100 Million in Federal Aid

The Rhode Island House Finance Committee approved a $7.8 billion budget last night that cuts $130 million in aid to communities, but does not raise taxes. That budget, however, is in jeopardy because it counts on $100 million in federal funding for Medicaid, which the U.S. House is now thinking about eliminating.
