Spokesman: Roberts Been a ‘Die-Hard’ Red Sox Fan Longer Than Kapstein

The Elizabeth Roberts campaign for lieutenant governor has taken issue with an April 30 editorial photo illustrating her rivalry with Democratic primary challenger Jeremy Kapstein, who is a Red Sox advisor. The photo depicted Kapstein in a Red Sox baseball hat standing next to Roberts in a Yankees cap. In a May 1 email to GoLocalProv, Campaign Manager Dan Meuse said that Roberts has been a "die-hard Sox fan" longer than Kapstein. Below is his full statement:

"I also wanted to mention the picture that is currently on the front page of the website of the Lt. Governor," Meuse wrote. "While I fully understand the editorial juxtaposition of the Lt. Governor and Mr. Kapstein, the intimation that Elizabeth is a Yankees fan is just plain wrong. In fact, considering Mr. Kapstein did not join the Red Sox until 2002, it would be safe to say that the Lt. Governor has been a die-hard Sox fan for much longer. Just want to make sure that your site does not provide or suggest incorrect information."
