Saturday, April 07, 2012
With three Providence agencies currently under investigation by the feds, GoLocalProv presents Corruption in Providence: A Special Report, co-hosted by News Editor Dan McGowan and Features Editor Tracey Minkin, live Monday morning April 9 from 6-8am on 920 WHJJ radio.
Corruption in Providence will take a close, up-to-the-minute look at the three federal investigations under way in the capital city.
The agencies currently under investigation are the Providence Economic Development Partnership (PEDP), a taxpayer-funded loan program with extremely high delinquency rates currently being reviewed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); the Providence Community Action Program (ProCAP), an anti-poverty agency that has been under federal investigation since last May; and most recently, the Providence Housing Authority, which has HUD officials investigating a 37-page complaint filed by a female employee.
McGowan and Minkin will also take a look back at previous investigations in Providence, including Plunder Dome. Special guests will include:
Robert Corrente, former US Attorney for Rhode Island;
John Lombardi, former Mayor and City Council President John Lombardi.
Dan McGowan has been covering all three investigations, including breaking major headlines along the way. Tune in for his inside take behind those headlines. The show will take callers from 6-8am at 1-866-920-WJHH.
This is second special GoLocal radio report anchored by McGowan and Minkin. Providence on the Brink: A Special Report examined the capital city's looming bankruptcy, in February earlier this year.
