Initially scheduled to reconvene tomorrow, the Rhode Island Senate announced today that it has postponed until October 3 a special session to confirm the governor’s appointees to the new I-195 redevelopment panel.

According to a press release from Senate spokesperson Greg Pare, “a question had arisen as to whether the form of the notice given…meets the technical requirements of the Joint Resolution which governs the convening of a Senate session during a recess…. The majority and minority leadership are in agreement as to the importance of the I-195 Commission and to the future of the state of Rhode Island. This decision to postpone reconvening will ensure that any decisions made by the commission will not be called into question.”
