Friday, November 26, 2010

Senate Judiciary Committee will go into full swing to consider a number of pending appointments by lame-duck Governor Donald Carcieri. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled confirmation hearings next week on several judicial nominations, followed by a meeting of the full Senate for action on them. On Monday, Nov. 29, the Judiciary Committee will meet at 3 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House to consider giving its advice and consent on the nominations of Haiganush R. Bedrosian as Family Court chief justice and Colleen M. Hastings and Christine S. Jabour as District Court judges.

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, the committee will meet to consider the nominations of Walter R. Stone, Sarah Taft-Carter and Brian Van Couyghen as Superior Court judges and Stephen M. Isherwood as a District Court judge.

The full Senate, which recessed in June, is scheduled to return to session Thursday, Dec. 2 for action on the nominations. The session is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
