The story warns readers about paying too much attention to a university’s sticker price tuition because some schools offer more financial aid than others. Instead, the focus should be on the net price, which is a better indicator for affordability.

“A net price refers to the cost after all scholarships and grants are deducted,” the story states. “For instance, if you got into a university with a $30,000 price tag, but received a $7,000 grant from the school, along with a $2,000 state grant, the net price would drop to $21,000.”
