RISD furthers Green Movement, Partners with Zipcar

The Rhode Island School of Design will now provide its campus with access to the world’s leading car-sharing service. Zipcar now brings low cost and convenient, 24-7 transportation to RISD students, faculty, and staff over the age of 18. Zipcar is an environmentally friendly transportation alternative that takes 15 to 20 privately owned vehicles off the road.
“Zipcar will help to reduce congestion on campus, reducing RISD’s overall carbon footprint,” said the vice president of global university operations at Zipcar, Matthew Malloy.
Gas, 180 miles per day, insurance, reserved parking spots and roadside assistance is included in the hourly and daily rates for Zipcar. That’s not too bad for the annual fee of $35. Not to mention that all RISD applicants receive a $35 credit that applies toward their first month of driving.
