RI Department of Environmental Management Announces State Park App
Wednesday, December 15, 2010
Rhode Island smartphone users can now instantly access information on state parks, beaches, and campgrounds. Thanks to the Department of Environmental Management parks staff and ParksbyNature Network of New York, RI’s state park system is one of the first in the country to offer a professionally created app for its patrons.
Information provided by the app includes park, beach, campground locations, and both the history and contact information for each park. You will also be able to reserve campsites for park activities and events. One innovative feature for this type of app is its social networking platform, which gives park visitors the ability to invite friends and family to join in on the many number of activities that are available.
The app can be downloaded from DEM’s parks website here. It is available in either the Apple or Android format.
