Dr. Tad - forced to surrender his medical license

The Rhode Island Department of Health recently issued a "voluntary surrender of license" for Dr. Tadeusz Sztykowski -- more popularly known as "Dr. Tad" on his radio show on WPRO and television appearances on The Rhode Show on WPRI.

And Rhode Islanders responded in social media.

"There is a god! He caused me years of pain and anguish in the name of making money all the time telling me that he would solve all my problems. The only thing that did was a complete hip replacement and still another yet to come. He is a complete fraud but i feel sorry for the people that work for him," wrote former patient Deb Padula.

Others came to the doctor's defense.

"I went to Dr. Tad after trying to conceive for 3 years. I was told by a renowned Fertility Specialist in RI that I had a zero percent chance of getting pregnant with out fertility treatments. My diagnoses was unexplained infertility, I refused to take drugs for an issue that could not be identified," wrote Kathryn McEnery D'Ovidio. "Dr. Tad reviewed my records and said I was perfectly healthy and would be pregnant with the help of acupuncture in 2-4 months. I was pregnant in 3 months! Going to acupuncture 2-3 times a week was much more affordable alternative to fertility treatments. He helped make a dream come true and I had full faith in him."

Wide-Ranging Response

As GoLocal first reported:

The Department of Health has ordered Dr. Tad to “refrain from advertising or marketing that is false, deceptive or misleading, or that is likely to deceive, defraud or harm the public.”
Further, the Department stated the “respondent shall cease and desist from holding himself out as a licensed physician.”

"The [Rhode Show] and every other media that had him as a guest should have made it crystal clear he was not board certified in the U.S. It sounds like many people have been caused stress and possibly harm at his hands. Everyone should do their due diligence, ask questions.....do a back ground check...don't just assume all doctors are good," wrote Paul Schwartz. "Some are amazing and will do everything in their power to help you and show compassion...others should be ashamed to call themselves doctors."

"I have been attending the clinic for a couple of years," wrote Barbara DiMuccio. "Dr. Tad told me right from the start that he had a medical degree from Poland where he practiced for a number of years, but here in [the] U.S. he does acupuncture."
