How expensive is it in your Rhode Island community to own a car? GoLocal has analyzed the tax burden on drivers in every community, based on the latest data from the state.

In order to provide a fair comparison, GoLocalProv considered both the amount of each city or town's exemptions and the tax rate. The ranking is based on how much would be owed for one of the most popular selling cars, a 2008 Honda Accord, which has a maximum retail value of $15,150, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association. See what your burden is locally and how it compares to every city and town in Rhode Island. The cities are ranked in order of the tax cost assessed against the Accord, from lowest (#39) to highest (#1).
