Providence Schools Close, Parking Ban to Take Effect

Providence Mayor Angel Taveras announced today that a city parking ban will go into effect at midnight and last until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Cars that violate the ban will be ticketed and towed—that applies to cars parked in school parking lots overnight.
Tomorrow, all public schools will be closed and after-school activities are canceled as well.

In a news release, the city said Mayor Angel Taveras had coordinated a “comprehensive response to the snowstorm,” meeting with the city’s emergency response team, emergency director Peter T. Gaynor, and senior officials at the Department of Public Works.
