Providence is the worst city to retire, according to WalletHub.

Methodology

For this study, WalletHub analyzed the retirement-friendliness and socioeconomic environment of the 150 largest cities in the United States.

Five dimensions, which included affordability, jobs, activities, quality of life and health care, were examined.

Within those dimensions, WalletHub evaluated twenty-five key metrics. These metrics ranged from cost of living to job prospects for workers aged 65 and older to the availability of recreational activities and to health care.

133rd– Annual Cost of In-Home Services
111th– Number of Part Time Employees for Every Full Time Employee for People Aged 65 Years and Older
32nd– Adult Volunteer Activities per Capita
127th– Percent of Population Aged 65 and Older
148th– Mild-Weather Ranking
76th– Violent Crime Rate
127th– Number of Health Care Facilities per Capita
