NEW: Cicilline Badly Trails Challengers Says Poll

Congressman David Cicilline is running more than 10 points behind both of two prospective Republican challengers for his seat in a new poll released today.
Brendan Doherty and John Loughlin each lead the incumbent by more than 10 points if the election were held today, the poll shows.
The survey of 300 registered voters by Fleming & Associates was conducted May 13-15 and has a 5.7 percent margin of error. Here direct matchups:
- Loughlin: 47%
- Cicilline: 35%
- Undecided: 17%

- Doherty: 46%
- Cicilline: 33%
- Undecided: 20%
Cicilline also polled poorly against his potential challegers in favorability ratings:
- Cicilline: 33% positive / 57% negative / 10% don’t know
- Loughlin: 38% positive / 16% negative / 46% don’t know
- Doherty: 43% positive / 5% negative / 52% don’t know
The poll, conducted by Fleming & Associates on behalf of WPRI 12 TV and aired at 6:00 Thursday, was done with a random sample of 300 Rhode Island 1st Congressional District registered voters. The interviews were conducted by phone between May 13 and May 15, 2011. Interviews were conducted only with registered voters in Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District who passed a screen designed to establish their registration status. For the sample of 300, the margin of error is 5.7 percent.
