NEW: URI President Issues Statement on Sport Institute Investigation

Monday, February 20, 2012

After productive discussions with the Rhode Island State Police and the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General, the University of Rhode Island issued the following statement regarding its independent examination of its relationship with the Institute for International Sport:

URI President David M. Dooley said, "We have been cooperating fully with the State Police and the Office of the Attorney General and want to ensure that our efforts in no way compromise their investigation.

“We remain committed to an impartial examination of the University’s internal transactions and will proceed once the work of law enforcement is complete. To that end, because this is an ongoing investigation, the University will refrain from any further comments on this matter.”

Look for the big shots on Smith Hill to make President Dooley "an offer he can't refuse" to stop any independent investigation.
