NEW: Unemployment Down to 10.5 Percent

Thursday’s report marks the fifth consecutive month that unemployment has dropped in the Ocean State. The national unemployment rate is 7.8 percent.
According to the report, the number of employed Rhode Islanders grew by 3,900 while state-based jobs increased by 2,000.
The number of unemployed Rhode Islanders reached its lowest level since 2009, down to 58,600.

A fist pumping moment for Chafee, no doubt. Does he wonder about the validity of these numbers like most folks, or does he just look at two tenths of one percent as a huge deal?

Sorry to spoil the party,BUT,this number (like the national figures) does not count thousands of unemployed people who no longer collect unemployment benefits. Still tons of work to be done.
