NEW: Unemployment Down to 10.5 Percent

The state’s unemployment rate has dipped to 10.5 percent, down two-tenths of a point from a last month, according to the Department of Labor and Training.
Thursday’s report marks the fifth consecutive month that unemployment has dropped in the Ocean State. The national unemployment rate is 7.8 percent.
According to the report, the number of employed Rhode Islanders grew by 3,900 while state-based jobs increased by 2,000.

The number of unemployed Rhode Islanders reached its lowest level since 2009, down to 58,600.
