The announcement comes just a day after the state marked the one year anniversary of its Race to the Top victory, which brought the state $75 million in federal funds.

Secretary Duncan, who has also served as the chief executive officer of Chicago Public Schools, will also speak at a town hall meeting prior to the RIPEC dinner. Elected officials will also be invited to provide remarks. In addition, the meeting will recognize this year's recipients of the Distinguished Public Service Awards, and elect Council Officers, Directors and Trustees.
