NEW: Taveras Cancels City Paving Program Due to Overspending
Thursday, June 12, 2014
GoLocalProv has received a copy of the letter from the Taveras Administration to Providence City Council members alerting them that the $40 million bond funded street paving program is being canceled due to overspending.
A number of planned roads are now put on hold due to cost overruns. The road program has been one of the focal points of Mayor Angel Taveras' administration.

Please see below a list of 21 streets throughout the city that were placed on hold for construction through the road improvement bond. As Nate Urso references below, this is due to budget projections in the paving program. I was waiting to send this to you to ensure that it is the finalized list, which DPW has confirmed.
Please let me know if any questions.

Below is the list of streets that were put on hold based on budget projections of the paving program. As we progress through construction this year we will continue to do budget projections and revaluate if the budget allows for these roads to be included in the paving program.
