New Second in Command for Providence Schools
Tuesday, May 10, 2011
The Providence School Board has named Paula Shannon as the Acting Chief Academic Officer, replacing Sharon Contreras, who is taking the superintendent post in Syracuse, New York in July.
Shannon, who was recommended for the appointment by Superintendent Thomas Brady, will serve until the district can find a permanent replacement.
She is currently the Executive Director of Curriculum Development and Implementation, a position that has “put her at the epicenter of the district’s Aligned Instruction System Work,” the department said in a news release. She has worked for Providence schools in a variety of roles since 1999.
