Johnson and Wales University has chosen former GOP gubernatorial candidate John Robitaille to take over as executive director of the Larry Friedman International Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Robitaille, a former business owner and senior official to past governor Donald Carcieri will start his duties as director on June 1, 2011.

“John presented Johnson & Wales with a creative proposal that brings together our College of Business, School of Arts & Sciences and Small Business Development Center in an integrated approach to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Providence Campus president Irving Schneider. “Under John’s direction, the center will provide our students with the resources, training and mentoring to motivate this new generation of aspiring entrepreneurs.

Students in JWU’s College of Business’s entrepreneurship program learn important business fundamentals, such as how to develop a business plan and basic expansion strategies and tactics. The Larry Friedman Center seeks to help these students realize their business aspirations by offering them a variety of resources including technical, administrative, and professional assistance.
