NEW: Riley Blasts Langevin for Skipping WPRO Debate

Thursday, October 18, 2012

2nd District Congressional candidate Mike Riley is criticizing Congressman James Langevin for refusing to participate in a debate on WPRP scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22.

“I look forward to every opportunity to discuss the issues of this campaign with the Congressman,” Riley said. “I see it as giving the voters a clear choice in this election and an opportunity for both of us to express our ideas. I am disappointed the Congressman doesn’t want to put forth any of his plans to help RI’s struggling economy.”

The debate has now been canceled.

Looks like you got him on the run Mike. Too bad he lacks the courage to debate. He certainly didn't go back to Washington!

As a matter of curiosity were all three of the Second District congressional candidates invited to the debate in question, or only the two duopoly candidates?

Face reality folks, Langevin could admit to being a tax cheat, ax murderer or to waxing the steps at the old folks home, and he'll still win re-election. He's a long time democrat in state where too many people rely on democrats for their daily bread.

I believe in free enterprise and the promise of America. My view of the role of government differs greatly with the progressive views of Jim Langevin and David Cicilline. My friend and competitor for many years Tom Peterffy has a perspective worth hearing and is linked below.

We were all invited, and I was not surprised when Riley dropped out, too. It follows a pattern of behavior for both of my opponents. Let me shed a few crocodile tears for Riley. It's pathetic (as Jim Taricani would say) that these two men have deprived the RI public of the chance to compare the candidates side by side.

I look forward to winning the WJAR debate on November 2nd, which will be the only chance Rhode Islanders will get to compare us all in the flesh.

Having watched Rep. Langevin and Mr. Riley on Newsmakers last Sunday, it's no wonder Langevin skipped the WPRO debate. I was astonished with how ill prepared and uninformed Congressman Langevin was on a host of issues. Can anyone name one major initiative put forth from Langevin during his 12 years in Congress? He has to be THE most ineffectual member of Congress.
