Wednesday, March 28, 2012
She will presented with the award during the association’s Third Annual Gala on April 13 at 6 p.m. at the Providence Marriott Hotel.
Carty, who has served on the faculty of RIC’s School of Nursing for 38 years, was described in her award nomination as “a content expert, outstanding classroom teacher and highly skilled clinical instructor whose teaching excellence has been recognized with numerous awards throughout her career.”
Carty teaches primarily in the baccalaureate program and selected topics in the master’s program. She is also an active member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau and its local chapter, Delta Upsilon Chapter-at-Large.
“I am very pleased to be selected as the 2012 Nightingale Academic Educator,” Carty said. “I am fortunate to work in an environment that expects and supports excellence. Administrators at the college and School of Nursing, faculty colleagues, students in the RIC nursing program, and nurse associates in the community have contributed to my enjoyment of, and success in, teaching nursing.”
