NEW: Providence Superintendent Search Down to Two Finalists
Tuesday, May 01, 2012
The Providence School Board has narrowed its Superintendent search down to two finalists and could make a decision as soon as next week, GoLocalProv has learned.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Susan Lusi, who is a favorite of several current teachers and principals in the district, is one of the finalists while the other candidate currently works for a school district in Pennsylvania, sources tell GoLocalProv.
Lusi has held the interim tag since last summer after former Superintendent Tom Brady resigned after clashing heads with Mayor Angel Taveras and his senior advisor on education.

Educators in the city are said to be concerned that bringing in another new Superintendent could disrupt some of the school reform efforts currently underway in Providence schools. The other finalist has a corporate background and like Lusi and Brady, graduated from the Broad Superintendents Academy.
